UEFA Crap

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Two goals in as many minutes at the end of the first half left Boro in a precarious position in the 1/4 final tie versus FC Basel. Boro sporting a white kit - which confused commentator Terry Butcher who was referring to them as Bolton at the start of the game - made a disasterous [...]

Corb Lund

Monday, March 27th, 2006

I went to see Corb Lund at the New Roscoe in Leeds last night. It was top drawer foot stomping country music from Canada. I saw him a couple of years back at the same place and he was all the better tonight for having a guitarist this time. The guitarist was great but was, [...]

Seven goal thriller

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

Boro snatched an injury time winner against Bolton at the Riverside this afternoon. In a thrilling and thoroughly enjoyable match Bolton had come back to level the game at 3 apiece before Stuart Parnaby slid on to a last minute Yakubu cross from the left to grab the winner and all 3 points.
The game started terribly for [...]

Spice club

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

We went for curry last night at the new Jinnah restaurant called York Spice Club. An average curry was made rather entertaining by interesting descriptions on the menu (check out Fauladi) and the fact that Matt and Chris had drunk about 5 pints!

The place was quite modern with square plates, strange shaped serving dishes and rather odd [...]

Bore draw!

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

Middlesbrough made a bright start to tonights FA Cup 1/4 final against Charlton at The Valley. Some lovely crisp passing were the hightlights of the first 10 or so minutes but the only real chance fell to Yakubu, who was a little surprised that Queudrue’s excellent cross from the left reached him, and headed well [...]

A tale of two routs

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006

England won the third test in Mumbai by 212 runs to square the series this morning. In a game that looked to be heading for a draw at lunch with Dravid and Tendulkar well set, the England bowlers got both of them out straight away in the afternoon session. The Indian batting line up then collapsed [...]

The Proposition

Thursday, March 16th, 2006

Last night I went to the cinema (I should have been at home watching the mighty Boro qualify for the UEFA quarter finals but that’s another story) to see The Proposition. The screenplay was by Nick Cave and knowing his music a bit it was evident. The film tells the story of the murderous Burns [...]

Get in there!

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Boro got through to the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup tonight. I’m very happy

Sport is rubbish

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

Another thoroughly depressing day of sport today. Boro lost, England got whooped by France in the Six Nations and we are also conspiring to lose the Mohali test match.
Sounds like we were robbed against Charlton this afternoon. Fielding what looked like a second 11 compared to recent times, there were 9 changes from the UEFA [...]

A good start

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

Boro made a good start to their last 32 tie against Roma tonight on an awful looking pitch. The amount of rain that Teesside has seen over the last 48 hours was very apparent and made a bigger mess of what was already starting to look like a fairly ropey pitch. Given that there were some very [...]
